Smice International in collaboration with Astec Aggregate and Mining Group from the United States yesterday organized a day's seminar for quarry operators in the country to educate and sensitize them and other stakeholders on the need to ensure the best practices in the quarry industry.
The programme, held in Accra, was under the theme: “Employing best practices in quarry operations for accelerated infrastructure development.”
Opening the seminar, the Minister of Transportation, Dr Richard Anane, in a speech read on his behalf said the efficient and effective operation of quarries would go a long way to cut down the current high cost of bituminous surface dressing of roads.
At the end of the ceremony, the President of Telsmith Incorporated and his colleagues from Aggregate and Mining Group presented a plaque to Smice International for its role in promoting best practices in quarry operations.
