WASSCE Begins Tomorrow

This year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will start throughout the country tomorrow with the first core written Oral English paper.

A statement issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), and signed by Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, Senior Public Affairs Officer, said the examination, which will end on May 28, has already started with oral and practical tests.

A total of 136,936 candidates from 572 Senior High Schools nationwide will write the examination. They are made up of 77,281 males including 16 visually impaired and 59.655 females including five visually impaired.

The statement said WAEC has put in place necessary measures to ensure the success of the examination.

It said 'the support of all stakeholders is key to the attainment of this success'.

WAEC therefore encouraged the general public, to report any irregularities that may come to their notice.

The statement urged all supervisors, invigilators and candidates to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the examination which have been the 'focus of the various sensitization programmes and briefing sessions'.

WAEC assured candidates writing the examination that they can pass without resorting to cheating.
