An office for the Sekyere East District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) has been inaugurated at Effiduase, the district capital.

Inaugurating it, Mr Philip Basoah, the District Chief Executive, described the National Health Insurance Scheme as one of the government’s best legacies for Ghanaians.

He said that from all indications, the scheme had come to stay and was poised to enhance health care delivery in the country.

He noted that the district’s scheme was unique in Ashanti and 'perhaps the entire country', adding that it was 'doing marvelously well'.

He said the scheme has so far paid about GH¢1,330,175 as claims.

Mr Peter Attah-Mensah, the scheme manager, disclosed that it has a membership of more than 93,1355 and collected about GH¢1,000 as premium from members.
