A 14-year-old junior high school pupil was yesterday found hanging from the ceiling of a veranda in the house in which he lived at Abofour in the Offinso North District.

Reports reaching the Daily Graphic said the boy, named only as Seth, might have hanged himself in the morning when there was nobody in the house.

According to the one who spoke to the Daily Graphic from Abofour, after completing his household chores in the morning, the boy wore his school uniform and left the house, giving the impression that he was going to school.

His parents also left the house for their respective workplaces. The source said unknown to the parents, Seth did not go to school but returned to the house at a time when there was nobody there.

According to the source, Seth tied a nylon sponge to his neck and climbed up to the roofing of a veranda in the house where he hanged himself to a piece of wood.

Some people who entered the house in the afternoon saw the boy hanging and raised an alarm. But it was too late, as he was already dead.

The source said a report was being made to the police at the time of the interview with the Daily Graphic.

According to the source, Seth's parents were at a loss because their son had left the house for school in a happy mood and never showed signs of being disturbed by anything to warrant committing suicide.

It described Seth as a respectful boy who was loved by many in the area. It was, therefore, surprising that he could commit suicide.

As of press time, the Daily Graphic was still trying to contact the police at Abofour to ascertain the state of investigations.
