The Vice-chairman of the Effiduasi/Asokore Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kwadwo Addai, has warned of “drastic consequences” for the party if people continued to mistrust the office of the presidential candidate, the founder and national executives.

He said developments regarding the running mate for Professor Mills could undermine the division within the top echelon of the party, stressing “United we stand, divided we fall”.

Mr Addai told journalists at Effiduasi in the Ashanti Region that there was the need for respect, trust and cordiality among the top hierarchy of the party to ensure that the party was properly positioned to win the elections.

He urged Prof. Mills to work closely with the national executives and the former President.

Mr Addai also appealed to Prof. Mills to choose Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu as his running mate to ensure a resounding victory in the elections.

Describing Mrs Iddrisu as the “woman of the moment”, Mr Addai said she had all the qualities that fed well into the political dynamics of the time.

He stated that the fight for gender balance had been a global one and majority of people had accepted the need for equal treatment and respect for women.

Mr Addai said the cry of the masses for Mrs Iddrisu as the running mate was not only premised on the fact that she was gender sensitive but more importantly, a capable woman.

He said Prof. Mills was humble, affable and gentle and thus required someone with similar qualities to partner him.

The constituency vice-chairman expressed the hope that all would be calm in the event of the agitation for the selection of Mrs Iddrisu so that the NDC would be the eventual winner of the elections.
