DFP Elects Flag bearer To Contest 2008 Elections

Mr Emmanuel Ansah-Antwi, DFP Flag bearer   The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has elected its Presidential Candidate last Saturday at the party's 1st National Delegates Congress on the Accra Polytechnic Campus.

Mr Emmanuel Ansah-Antwi, Marketing Consultant who won the flag bearership of the party had 868 votes representing 81.2 percent of the total votes cast while Alhaji Rahaman Isakah had 201 votes also representing 18.8 percent of the total votes cast.

Mr Safo Kantanka, Electoral Commissioner in charge of elections by simple majority declared Mr Antwi as the flag bearer of the DFP.

His remarks the flag bearer noted that this is the beginning of the race towards victory come December, 2008. He was aware of the fact that other political parties have started their campaign but assured all supporters DFP would step up it campaign in other to match them 'boot for boot.'

The Marketing Consultant promised to secure the need resources to support the party so as to make campaigning more effectively, 'funding is not a problem', he further assured.

He observed the party's readiness to contest in all the 230 parliamentary elections. DFP he said is a very good competitor and would compete other parties for the betterment of this nation and in the name of democracy.

The flag bearer asked all supporter and well wishers to work hard around the clock to win this year's election. Mr Antwi thanked all delegates for the honour done him.

Alhaji Isakah who was defeated and was expected to give his acceptance remarks was missing in action.

Other National Executives who stood unopposed were also shorn into office They are: the National Chairman; Kweku Baah, 1st Vice and 2nd Vice Chairmen of the party are Nii Okaija Adamafio and Frances Asiam respectively, Bede Ziedaine; General Secretary, Deputy General Secretary; John Amekah,

The rest are National Organiser; Piesi, Deputy National Organiser; Madam Elsie Akemegah-Mensah, Women Organiser Franclina Asamoah and her Deputy Hajia Hawawu Sule, Public Education Officer; Alhaji Hila Bawa and National Treasurer; Miss Ruby Aba Folson.

The Suame Constituency of the Ashanti Region honoured Life Patron and a Founding Member of the Party, Dr Obed Asamoah.

The congress was violence free.
