A 65-YEAR-OLD umbrella repairer, who has allegedly been exposing his penis to children with the intention to lure them into having sex with him, has been dragged to court by the police on a charge of gross indecency.

The three children (names withheld), were aged 10, 11 and 12.
The accused person, Kwame Charles Adukpoe, who is on remand, was asked by Justice Mensah Datsa why he used his 'small' penis to harass children, a statement which attracted laughter in the court room.

The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge, and was discharged for want of prosecution and also for the fact that the complainants had failed to appear in court for the third time.

The prosecutor, ASP George Abavelim informed the court that Sarah Mensah and Veronica Agboli, the complainants, were the mothers of the victims who lived at Ashongman.

According to the prosecutor, the accused, who also lived in the same vicinity and went round repairing umbrellas, got to know the victims and requested to have sex with them anytime he met them.

The prosecutor stated that the accused always removed his penis and showed it to the victims, saying that it was small so they should allow him to have sex with them.

On all occasions, the victims reported him to their mothers.
On February 28, 2008 at about 5:00pm, the accused, then in a trotro bus from Dome, on reaching a spot after Kwabenya Junction, saw the victims walking on an untarred road heading towards their house, and therefore asked the driver to stop.

When he alighted, he followed the victims and asked them why they were walking after which he started his usual 'raps', but the victims, who became frightened, ran home and informed their mothers.

The following day, one of the complainants spotted the accused at the bus stop, and caused his arrest, after which he was handed over to the police.

After investigations, he was charged and put before court.
