Fiifi Ofori Atta, 46 year old native of Adadientem, Apapam and Ahwiniase says he is ready to take up the challenge of taking over the Abuakwa South Constituency seat vacated by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party to continue where Nana left off.

According to him, his decision to run for the seat was with consideration to the present socio political situation in the country and the need to give Nana Akufo-Addo a successor who shares his vision and supports his aspirations for the development of Abuakwa South and Ghana.

"Abuakwa Couth constituency needs a strong and dedicated leader with strong local and international presence and contacts to open up the flood gate of economic development and progress," he told The Statesman in an interview.

According to him, it is "unfortunate for a constituency that boasts of countless national figures and great patriots to suffer the scourge of illiteracy, mass redundancy, and poverty."

He said the unparalleled personal efforts and achievement of the outgoing Member of Parliament, Nana Akufo-Addo, in creating livelihoods had been well acknowledged; and that the need for a dedicated successor to continue with his outstanding contributions and efforts were essential.

"As my personal contribution to the social and economic development of the constituency, I have in the past two years, established one of the aggressive private youth livelihood initiatives in the country," he said.

According to him the Abuakwa South Centre for Youth Development upon completion, will provide vocational training to hundreds of young men and women in textile production, bead making and information technology. He said the centre would take advantage of the sound economic environment and international trade regimes such as the African Growth and Opportunity Act.

He held that he has also completed a basic framework for an integrated rural agro based industry to provide jobs and incomes for the youth in the constituency.

"With me as a Mmember of Parliament for Abuakwa south constituency, the constituents will be ushered into the twilight of the global digital economy. As a leading information technology consultant in the United States of America, I am aware of the central role that information and communication technology plays in developing economies as in India.

I have the vision through my IT experience and other socio economic projects to transform Abuakwa south, the political Mecca of Ghana into an economic Mecca," he stated.

The leading member of the North America branch of NPP said Abuakwa South would need a new leader who would ensure that the citizens of the constituency gained maximum benefit from their natural resources while protecting the natural environment.

"Abuakwa South above all needs a candidate with sound relations with all sections of the constituency and has the social trust and goodwill to unite and move the constituency forward. I wish to call on all the delegates to the upcoming constituency primary not to be swayed by monetary enticements but to rise up to the call of patriotic duty and give me the opportunity to serve the people of Abuakwa," the former student of Abuakwa State College added.
