Teacher and educations staff honoured for meritorious work
Nineteen teachers and non-teaching staff in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region have been honoured at the 2007 Best Teacher Award ceremony at Manso-Nkwanta. In the Primary Division, Reverend Father Sarkodie of Dome Beposo Anglican School was adjudged the best teacher and received a 21 inch colour television set, a certificate of honour and cash. In the Technical and Vocational Division, Miss Abena Sekyere of Pakyi No. 2 Presby Junior High School came first, while the Basic School Maths award went to Paul Gyimah of Asuadei D/A Primary School. In the Senior High School Division, Miss Josephine Gudu of Mansoman School was adjudged the best teacher, while at the District Education Office, three non-teaching staff, Ranson John Kumvuor, Miss Georgina Aboagye and Rexford Ofori were also honoured. The Member of Parliament Special Award for Long Service and very hard working teacher went to M.A. Peesah of AdubeaJunior High School and Miss Margaret Mintah of Museaso D/A Primary. They received a suit case each. The District Chief Executive, Ben Kwakye Adeefe, commended teachers and non-teaching staff of Amansie West District Education Office for their hard work and commitment to duty which placed the District at the 7th position in the BECE at the national level. He said the District Assembly spent a chunk of its share of the Common Fund on education adding that since 2001, the Assembly has constructed 25 teachers quarters and 90 classroom blocks to enhance teaching and learning. The District Director of Education, Mrs. Beatrice Boakye Ansah Prempeh said the new education reform is on course and all eyes are on teachers and other staff of GES for its success.
