Emulate outstanding citizens of B/A– Awuah
Mr Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, has entreated the youth to emulate the determination and hard work of outstanding citizens of the region to achieve success in life.
He was addressing about 300 youth in Sunyani at a special programme to encourage the youth to strive for success.
The programme, code named “The Youth Mentor Project”, was under the theme, “Building Confidence in the Ghanaian Youth” and was initiated by the Minister.
Mr Baffour Awuah stated that the programme sought to nurture the potentials and unearth the leadership qualities in the youth for leadership roles in future.
“The region is endowed with great potentials in investment, agriculture, industry, tourism and urged the youth to excel in their chosen professions”, he said.
The Minister urged the youth to set their minds on hard work and determination to succeed “since success in life cannot be achieved on a silver platter”.
“The youth is the most precious asset of every nation and they need to be taught to develop their talents for the benefit of themselves, the society and the entire nation”, Mr Baffour Awuah said.
He urged then to have confidence in what ever they do and not to be discouraged by any circumstances or to allow problems they encounter in life to become obstacles in their aspirations to achieve success.
The Reverend Father Oduro Tachie of the Sunyani Catholic Diocese advised the youth to lead practical lives to experience the power of God in their lives.
He urged the youth to rely fully on the word of God, and go deeper into spirituality to be empowered from within.
Rev. Fr. Tachie urged the youth to learn to serve at all places, stating that their attitudes and character would open up opportunities for them to develop their talents.
Mrs Doris Nana Marfo, 2005 national best teacher, advised the youth to apply the training they receive in their daily lives and not to become “money conscious” but to remain focused on what they wanted to achieve in life.
