The Obuasi Municipal Assembly has endorsed the prosecution of four of its staff for allegedly embezzling 40 thousand Ghana cedis belonging to the assembly. The suspects are a Former Deputy Municipal Finance Officer, J.B Tetteh, the Local Governmental Inspector, William Adufutse, the Chief Revenue Superintendent Richard Kusi, and an Account Officer, Yeboah Sraha.

The endorsement follows their inability to refund the monies during a six-month grace period offered them by the assembly. The alledged embezzlement was uncovered by a special audit exercise carried out in November two years ago.

It also implicated one Obiri Yeboah, an officer at the Obuasi office of the Audit Service. Yeboah who reportedly refunded his money has been transferred from the Obuasi office.
