Effutu Council Presents Medical Books To Winneba Nursing School

The Omanhene of the Effutu Traditional Area, Neenyi Ghartey VII, last Wednesday presented assorted medical books worth more than GH¢5,000 to the authorities of the Winneba Community Health Nursing Training School in the Central region.

The books include, Professional Guide to Signs and Symptoms, Medical Nursing and Allied Health Dictionary, Child Health Nursing, Clinically Oriented Anatomy, The 5-Minute Pediatric Consult, Principles of Neurology, Nursing Management of Children, and Clinical Medicine.

The donation was to augment government's efforts at equipping the school with adequate learning materials to make teaching and learning in the school more conducive. Speaking at the function, Neenye Ghartey said the donation was in fulfillment of a promise he made to the Authorities of the School when he visited the school's library sometime last year.

Neenye Ghartey, who is also the President of the Effutu Traditional Council, expressed his deepest appreciation to some publishing industries in the United States of America (USA), for heeding the plea of an official of the Centre for Diseases, in the States, Ms Susana Worley, through whose instrumentality the books were donated.

According to the paramount chief, the appeal by Ms Susana Worley on behalf of the Effutu Traditional Council attracted great response, saying that the books he had presented formed part of a whole container full of such useful learning materials currently sitting in the US.

Neenye Ghartey assured the Authorities of the School that plans had been put in place to get the books transported into the country in bits to make it cost effective. He expressed optimism that teachers and students of the school would take advantage of the books to facilitate effective running of the school and advised the students to ensure proper handling of the books to prolong their lifespan.

Mrs Charlotte Enninful, Principal of the Winneba Community Health Nursing Training School, thanked the Omanhene for fulfilling his promise and expressed the hope that he would do everything possible to bring in the remaining ones. She said the school chalked  remarkable successes last year, adding that out of a total of 186 candidates the school presented for the final year examinations, 185 were successful.

Neenye Ghartey commended the school authorities for their excellent performance and advised them to sustain it.

The Omanhene who was accompanied by some members of the Effutu Traditional Council, Neenye Obosu II, Effutu-Atteituhene, Naase Aprekua, Sanahene of the Area, Abusuapanyin W W Turkson and Opanyin Kofi Afedzi, Protocol officer of the Effutu Traditional Council, was later conducted round the library to acquaint him with developments.
