No load shedding exercise

The Volta River Authority and the Electricity Company of Ghana assure all electricity consumers that they have not resumed any load shedding exercise. This is in reaction to recent media speculation's that the two companies have resumed the load shedding exercise because the level of the Akosombo dam is declining. In a joint statement the VRA and ECG say currently there is no shortage in supply. The statement maintains that all the units at Akosombo are available, and the lake level which was at 253 feet yesterday is 13 feet above the minimum operating level of 240 feet. There is also additional generation from the thermal plants at Aboadze and the emergency plants, as well as, imports from Cote d'Ivoire. There is therefore enough supply at all times to meet the demand. In view of these the statement assures the public that there should be no panic as far as energy supply is concerned.
