Ghana's Ambassador to Switzerland and Austria, His Excellency Mr. Kwabena Baah-Duodu, has been honoured for his outstanding diplomatic service and contribution to international relations, as well as for his active involvement in community service by Reconciliation International, a UK-based African Awareness Organisation, in an impressive ceremony held in London on 30th December, 2007.

In his acceptance remarks, Ambassador Baah-Duodu, who is also Ghana's Permanent Representative to the UN Offices in Geneva and Vienna, expressed his appreciation to Reconciliation International for the honour bestowed on him and described his work as diplomat in London from 2001 to 2004, as both interesting and challenging, because, according to him, “ the more one tried to do the more there was to do”.

He praised Reconciliation International, its founder, Bishop Kwaku Frimpong-Manson, and other collaborators for their dedication, selflessness and communal care, especially towards the disadvantaged in the society. He also thanked the entire staff of the Ghana High Commission in London for their cooperation and support for him during his service there. His Excellency the Ambassador was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Edith Baah-Duodu.

Other award winners included the former British Prime Minister, Mr. Tony Blair, Archbishop John Sentamu, Baroness Patricia Scotland, among other prominent individuals, for excelling in their various fields of endeavours as well as for their community leadership.

The awards ceremony was also organised to commemorate the bi-centenary anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade.
