Education workers including teachers and non-teachers in the Obuasi municipality have been called upon to renew their commitment to duty to enhance effective education delivery in the municipality.

Mrs Beatrice Boakye-Ansah Prempeh, the Municipal Director of Education, called for improved inter-personal relations amongst teachers, non-teachers and officers to help consolidate the educational achievements so far gained in the municipality.

She was addressing a New Year get-together for staff of the Municipal Education Office at the AngloGold Ashanti Golf Course at Obuasi.

“It is your hard work and prayers that has seen education delivery to this far. I therefore call for unity and togetherness to move education forward in this municipality”, she said.

Mrs Prempeh appealed to teachers to do away with attitudes that would draw the clock of educational progress in the municipality backwards.

“Attitudes such as absenteeism, lateness to duty, malingering and backbiting should not be part of us in this New Year.”

Mrs Prempeh commended all stakeholders in education for their support that had consistently helped the municipality to place first in the national Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) ranking for four consecutive years.
