The Regent of Gulkpegu of the Tamale Metropolis, Gulkpe-Na Alhaji Abdulai Ziblim last Monday called on the people of Northern Region to lend their support to the success of the Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations tournament.

He said they can do this by ensuring peace and tranquility during the games to justify the selection of the Region as one of the host cities. Alhaji Na Ziblim made the call when he paid a visit to the newly constructed sports stadium at Tamale, venue of the Ghana 2008 tournament.

The Gulkpe-Na said Chiefs and Traditional leaders would evoke the ancestral spirits of the Region to ensure that there was peace and stability during the games so that the Region would reap the results of investment for the development of the people.

He expressed gratitude for the construction of the beautiful edifice in the Region and used the occasion to appeal to the people, particularly the business community and other investors to take advantage of the stadium to relocate their businesses to the Region.

Alhaji Na Ziblim said, 'We are very grateful to the authorities for choosing Tamale as one of the venues for the games. We have to comport ourselves during the tournament to ensure that businesses are relocated here to justify the investment and nomination of our region as one of the host cities.'

Mr Kofi Addai, the Stadium Manager conducted the Regent and his entourage round the stadium, to have a first hand-feel of the playing field, the VIP stands and lounges with the Regent expressing his desire to have the comfort of sitting to watch the matches.
