Presidential debates, step in right direction

A lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Ransford Jampoh says Presidential debates are good for Ghana's young democracy. He said Ghana received praises from both its neighbours and the international community for the peaceful and successful manner in which it conducted the 2000 and 2004 debates as they impacted positively on the general elections.

In an interview with Radio Ghana, Mr. Jampoh said the debates offer the presidential candidates the opportunity to debate on issues such as good governance as well as economic and social issues.
