The deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr. Kwaku Agyemang Manu has declared his intention to contest for the Dormaa West constituency seat on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December general elections.

As part of his programme, the deputy Minister during the Christmas holidays held a retreat where members of the party, particularly the polling station executives were reminded about how to check election malpractices come December, this year.

Some citizens of Dormaa, currently holding prominent positions, were invited to present papers at the seminar on the importance of the party maintaining the seat by voting for Hon. Agyemang Manu.

Later in an interview with the press, Mr. Agyemang Manu declared that he was optimistic that NPP would maintain the Dormaa West seat, following the number of development projects scattered around the Dormaa District.

These projects, spearheaded by the deputy Minister, included the reconstruction of Dormaa town roads over a distance of about 6.7kms, a 5-km Nkran-kwanta town road and a portion of Dormaa-Nkran-kwanta road, covering about 10 kms.

Mr Manu disclosed that the Dormaa-Gonnokrom road, which is currently undergoing construction with 3 kms already tarred, would continue to Kofi Badukrom.

He further disclosed that through his initiative, all the cellular networks are in the area, stressing that if he gets the nod he can do more to improve the well-being of the people.

Mr. Manu said other projects which received a boost through his efforts were the expansion of Dormaa FM and the establishment of Gift FM, also in Dormaa.

As his widow's mite towards the upliftment of education in the area, the deputy Minister disclosed that he is currently supporting about 25 students from the area in various second-cycle and tertiary institutions.

Mr Manu said he also played a major role in the construction of the Kwame Asuakrom clinic which was inaugurated about two years ago, as well as an ongoing two road project at Kyekyewere.

He therefore urged the delegates to vote for him when they go to the primaries so that he could continue to help undertake meaningful projects for the Dormaa citizenry.

Mr. Agyemang Manu, since the assumption of office of President Kufuor, has been appointed Deputy Minister for ministries like Finance and Economic Planning, Interior and is currently with Trade and Industry.

Before his appointment as a Deputy Minister, Mr Manu was a Financial Director of Ghamot Ltd, dealers in Toyota vehicles in the country.
