The Volta Regional branch of Ghana Telecom lost about GH C50,000 through cable theft in 2007. The Regional Manager, Paul Evans Amuzu revealed this in an interview with Radio Ghana. He said cable theft is becoming rampant in the region and is negatively affecting the company's operations.
Mr. Amuzu therefore appealed to the public to report perpetrators to the appropriate authorities. He also urged the courts in the region to expedite action on cable theft cases.
Mr. Amuzu commended the security agencies in the region especially the 66 Artillery Regiment for their effort in arresting the criminals. He challenged customers Ghana Telecom staff who engage in fraudulent acts to management. He gave the assurance that management will not disclose the identity of the informants.
