¢5 billion Admin Block for UCC School of Medical Sciences

The sod to mark the construction of a ¢5 billion administration block for the University of Cape Coast (UCC) School of Medical Sciences, has been cut by its Vice Chancellor, Rev. Prof. Emma Addow Obeng.

This project is to help reduce the high doctor-patient ratio of about 1 to 12,500 for efficient and effective health delivery service in Ghana.

The block which consists of 35 offices and two conference halls, has had a huge contribution of ¢500 million and will have an additional ¢1 billion all from Member of Parliament for Asin North, Mr Kennedy Agyepong.

Rev. Prof. Obeng called on philanthropists and other corporate bodies for additional contributions towards the realisation of the project, since current project funding is from the school's own resources.

The Chairman of the Medical School Project Implementation Committee and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kobina Yankson, said that the programme was designed to make an impact on the healthcare delivery of the country since it had been structured with products that are fully equipped with both curative and preventive health services.
