VAT service closes down hostel for debt default

The VAT Service on Wednesday closed down facilities of KATA Company Limited. They include a hostel on the Lapaz Main Road, a building at Kokomlemle and a warehouse on the Spintex road. The property has also been confiscated by the VAT Service and would be sold within 14 days if the Company fails to pay its debt to the state.


Speaking to Radio Ghana, the enforcement officer of the VAT Service, Kofi Xetor said the KATA Company was given notice to pay the GH¢830,000 it owes since January 2006, but has failed to do so. Mr. Xetor urged companies to pay their taxes when the time is due.
