14 Year Old Student Adjudged Winner in a Competition

A 14 year old student of the Kwegyir Memorial School at Gbawe, in the Greater Accra District, Christian Arthur has been adjudged winner of an Anti-corruption slogan and Art competition in Accra. The programme was initiated by the Ghana Anti Corruption Coalition for School Children between the ages of 12 and 18 to come out with an anti-corruption slogan and art work in four local languages. The languages are Ga, Ewe,Akan and Dagbani.

Master Arthur was given GH¢300, and some books on corruption to broaden his knowledge as well as a 50 inch plasma TV for his school. The Minister of Information and National Orientation Mrs. Oboshie Sai-Coffie said corruption poses a serious development challenge and must be the concern for all.

She said Ghanaians can help develop the nation if individual citizens take it upon themselves to tackle corruption wherever they are.

She commended the Ghana Anti Corruption Coalition for coming out with the initiative to instil in the young ones an anti-corruption attitude.

She called for more of such programmes to help shape the character of the nation's future leaders. The General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Reverend Fred Deegbe, explained that corruption is responsible for part of the nations poverty. He called for more effort from society to help deal with the canker.
