Eastern Regional Peace Council sensitises Okorase Methodist JHS students on conflict prevention
The Eastern Regional Peace Council (ERPC) has sensitised 150 students of Okorase Methodist Junior High School A on conflict understanding and violence prevention as part of its Safe School Project.
The initiative was aimed at educating students on the causes, forms and consequences of conflict and violence while equipping them with practical skills to resolve disputes peacefully and prevent violent behaviour.
Speaking during the sensitisation programme, the Senior Programs Manager of the ERPC, Mr Osmond Appiah Danquah, described conflict as a natural aspect of human interaction that can occur in schools, homes and communities.
He explained that although conflict is inevitable, it can escalate into violence when not properly managed.
Mr Danquah encouraged the students to adopt dialogue, tolerance, and mutual respect as key tools for resolving disagreements peacefully.
He also advised them to seek assistance from teachers and school authorities whenever conflicts arise, rather than resorting to violence or other negative behaviours.
The programme highlighted the importance of discipline, responsible conduct and peaceful coexistence in fostering safe and conducive learning environments.
Students were encouraged to demonstrate positive attitudes towards one another and contribute to maintaining harmony within their school and communities.
