A tutor at Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School who was captured in a viral video physically confronting a female Form Three student has reportedly been arrested by the Ghana Police Service.
The incident, which has sparked public outrage, is alleged to have stemmed from the non-payment of hostel fees.
Reports indicate that the teacher, who also serves as a hostel caretaker, had been demanding payment of the outstanding fees when tensions escalated into a physical altercation with the student.
In the viral footage, students can be heard expressing frustration over what they described as repeated confrontations concerning the unpaid fees.
One student is heard pleading with the teacher, saying, "Sir, remove all the Form Three students from the room instead of fighting us every day over money."
In a social media post on Tuesday, June 9, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Daniel Fenyi, disclosed that the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate has launched an investigation into the matter.
"Nyinahin Catholic SHS teacher seen in viral video fighting a female student arrested! Regional Education Directorate investigating the matter. Full report to be submitted to HQ," the post read.
