Garden City University introduces new VC Prof Eric Kwasi Ofori to Okyenhene
The Management of Garden City University (GCU) has formally introduced its newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eric Kwasi Ofori, to the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, at the Ofori Panin Palace in Kyebi in the Eastern Region.
The visit also served as an official invitation to the Okyenhene to attend the investiture ceremony of Professor Ofori, which is scheduled to take place on July 9, 2026, at the university's campus at Kwabre Kenyasi in the Ashanti Region.
The university delegation was led by Professor Ofori and included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Nana K. Owusu-Kwarteng; the Registrar, K.A. Karikari; the Director of Finance, Raymond Kansanba; and the Director of the Office of Institutional Advancement, Dr. Isaac Tweneboah-Koduah.
Also present were Assistant Registrar for Operations Daniel Kwame Ofosu, University Counsellor Theresa Moreena Darko, and Nursing Coordinator Mercy Afia Negble.
Addressing the Okyenhene, Professor Ofori, a native of Kybi, expressed appreciation for the traditional ruler's support and mentorship over the years, describing it as instrumental in his academic and professional journey.
"I am grateful for your guidance and advice, which have contributed significantly to my growth and have helped me attain this position as Vice-Chancellor of Garden City University," he said.
Professor Ofori assured the Okyenhene of his commitment to advancing the university's vision and strengthening its reputation as a leading institution of higher learning.
"With the experience I have gained in academia and administration, I am determined to work hard to make Garden City University one of the best tertiary institutions not only in Ghana but beyond," he stated.
In his response, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin said Professor Ofori's appointment did not come as a surprise, citing his track record of excellence in academia, management and leadership.
"Professor Eric Kwasi Ofori has distinguished himself in various capacities, and his intellectual ability and leadership qualities make him well suited for this role," the Okyenhene remarked.
The Okyenhene urged the new Vice-Chancellor to build on the university's achievements and uphold its standards.
"Work diligently to maintain the reputation that Garden City University has established and take the institution to greater heights to benefit future generations," he advised.
