A Tribute to Chairman One — Dr. Samuel K. Nkansah, who passed into eternity on Sunday, June 7th, 2026.

It’s hard to find the words, Dr. Samuel K. Nkansah—Elder Nkansah of Harvest Chapel International. My chest feels heavy just saying your name. For many of us, you have just gone home, and Harvest Chapel International will never be the same.

From a distance, Elder Nkansah came across as quiet, reserved, unassuming, principled, and a disciplinarian. The kind of man some people will think twice before approaching him. But God used that same quietness to reveal one of the gentlest hearts I have ever known.

Draw near to Elder Nkansah, and you will meet a true gentleman—compassionate and warm, always ready with counsel, prayer, and a listening ear, and very generous in every sense. He didn’t just profess Christ; he lived Him. He practicalized the faith in the way he treated people.

The closer you got to him, the more you saw it: the compassion in your eyes, the counsel on your lips, the way you made people feel seen. You didn’t just talk about Christ. You walked with Him, and you walked with us.”

Elder Nkansah had a gift for light. He was jovial, quick with a joke, and could turn a heavy atmosphere into laughter just by walking in. Yet he was never loud or dramatic. You didn’t need to be. Your presence was steady, and you made time to chat with as many people as possible after service.

For years Elder Nkansah chaired the Harvest Chapel International’s Finance Committee, and those of us who counted the church’s offerings and tithes knew him simply as “Chairman One.” That name carried respect, but more than that, it carried care. He insisted that on the first Sunday of every month, lunch be provided for the Finance Committee team including the counting unit. We stayed late after services, especially during Charisma Sundays and special church programmes, and you made sure our well-being came first.

Chairman One taught us that stewardship isn’t just about money. It’s about people.

Many nights we chat, most often between midnight and 1:00 am; he is a man who loves to work deep in the night.

I will never forget 2013, when I was breaking inside, drowning in things difficult to explain, and felt lonely. I was going through an emotional and psychological battle; that was quite a difficult period of my life. Elder Nkansah noticed. Without making me feel small, you took me out for lunch at the Barclays (ABSA) Bank Ring Road cafeteria.

We sat, we talked, and you opened Scripture to me, sharing truths about life with gentleness and wisdom. You spoke life over me with verses that still echo in me today. I left lighter. But you didn’t stop there; you kept calling, checking in, especially on Sundays when I wasn’t at church. That’s who you were—a shepherd who didn’t stop at the pulpit.

To Deaconess Dr. Ama Nkansah, to your son Dr. Kofi Nkansah, and to the entire family—your loss is our loss. May the Lord wrap His arms around you and strengthen you in this moment. May His strength carry you through the days that feel impossible.

Harvest Chapel International's family has lost a great man of God—a servant whose full depth in Kingdom work we are only now beginning to grasp.

We’ve lost a father, a counselor, and a quiet giant whose contribution to Kingdom business cannot be replaced easily.

Rest now, Chairman One. Your work here is done, but your footprints of gold remain on every life you touched—including mine. They will never be wiped out. We will not forget. We cannot forget.

It’s painful to even write this chapter. Your deeds are too many to fit on paper. But we’ll remember every counsel, every prayer, every midnight call, and every lunch you made sure we had.

Farewell, Dr. Samuel K. Nkansah. Thank you for showing us the Christlike kind of love.
