37 Communities Benefit From NYEP

About 37 Community Police Unit under the National Youth and Employment Programme (NYEP) had been trained and deployed to the various communities in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region.
  
Mr Edward Abazam, the Deputy District Coordinator who spoke on behalf of the Acting District Chief Executive, Mrs Agnes Chigabatia, said they were to work in tandem with the police and other security agencies and urged them to work hard to raise the image of their work.
  
He said they were to help fight lawlessness, bush burning, reckless driving and also help in the revenue collection in the District.
  
Mr Abazam said he was convinced the personnel have been trained physically and psychologically well to contribute their quota to the development of the District.

Mr Cletus Ayariga, the District Youth Employment Coordinator said about 364 persons comprising 207 teacher Assistants, 70 Health Extension Workers, 40 Waste and Sanitation Management, 37 communities Police Unit and 10 sanitation Aides were currently working in the District.
