The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has stated that the Accra Marine Drive Tourism Investment Project would boost tourism, create jobs and support growth in the cultural and creative arts sector.
Speaking on Tuesday at the inauguration of a Technical Committee to oversee the project in Accra, she said the initiative would also stimulate economic activity along the capital’s coastline and expand opportunities for businesses within the tourism value chain.
She added that the project would strengthen Ghana’s position as a destination for leisure and cultural experiences.
The Minister stressed that achieving these outcomes would depend on strong cooperation among ministries, departments and agencies, noting that coordination would be essential to ensure smooth implementation and timely delivery.
She urged members of the committee to work closely with all stakeholders and maintain high standards in the execution of their duties.
According to the minister, the committee has been given a clear timeline of 18 to 24 months to help fast-track processes, address administrative challenges and ensure that all aspects of the project are aligned with national development priorities.
The committee is chaired by the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mr Yussif Issaka Jajah. It includes representatives from key institutions such as the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Ghana Tourism Development Company, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, the Lands Commission, utility service providers, and project consultants.
Its mandate covers providing technical guidance, supporting coordination among agencies, resolving bottlenecks and ensuring that the project is delivered within schedule and budget.
The Accra Marine Drive Tourism Investment Project is a government initiative designed to attract private investment, upgrade infrastructure and transform the Accra waterfront into a modern tourism, leisure and commercial hub.
