Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has called for a renewed national focus on manufacturing as a central pillar of Ghana’s economic transformation, stressing the need for deeper collaboration between government and the private sector.

Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on Friday, April 3, he highlighted the critical role of manufacturing in building a larger, more stable and inclusive economy, noting that meaningful development cannot be achieved without deliberate investment in the sector.

He underscored the responsibility of government to create an enabling environment for industrial growth, pointing to policy clarity, macroeconomic stability, improved infrastructure, efficient regulation, skills development and reliable power supply as essential foundations.

According to him, these elements are key to unlocking business growth, cautioning that without a predictable and stable operating environment, long term investment in manufacturing will continue to face significant challenges.

Mr Debrah also urged the private sector to match government efforts by making bold investments and driving continuous innovation.

He encouraged businesses to formalise their operations where necessary and expand beyond their current limits in order to remain competitive and contribute effectively to national development.

“The private sector must invest boldly, innovate consistently, formalise where necessary, and scale beyond its comfort zone. We must build firms that think not only about immediate margins, but also about long term competitiveness, resilience, and national impact,” he stated.
