Minister Of State Inspects Progress Of Work At Kumasi Airport

Ms Gloria Akuffo, Minister of State, Aviation Ministry, yesterday inspected progress of work at the Kumasi Airport in the Ashanti Region.  She was accompanied by Mr Simon Allotey, Acting Director-General of Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Mrs Esi Annor Sackey, Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company and Mr G.K.Scott, Chief Director of the Ministry.
    
Workers were seen busily working on the various structures of the Airport including the Rescue and Fire Fighting Service block, the Meteorological offices and the control tower when the Minister and her team arrived at the place.
    
Conducting the Minister and the team round, Mr Stefano Ramella, Managing Director of Consar, contractors working on the project, said old structures would not be destroyed because they looked solid and strong instead, they would be repaired and painted.
    
Mr Issac Addai, a representative of the Consultant to the project, who took the Minister and her team to the runway, said the first phase of work would involve repair works to be followed by over-lay of asphalting.
    
Ms Akuffo told newsmen that the project would be implemented in phases.  The Minister and the Team earlier paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.
