Police Advise Public To Collect Traveling Documents From Appropriate Bodies

The Greater Accra Regional Police yesterday asked prospective travelers to contact appropriate embassies for their traveling documents instead of dealing with individuals.

A statement signed by Inspector Kweku Dompreh of the Region's Public Affairs said the police command had observed that some individuals who want to secure traveling documents did not contact the appropriate agencies or embassies for traveling documents.

It noted that some persons preferred to deal with unscrupulous men and 'turn to harass the police to collect their monies from them when they were duped, though they knew those individuals they deal with were not embassy staff.'

'The Police in Accra will henceforth not entertain such cases because most of the arrangements have been contractual trappings which render such cases civil in nature,' the statement said.
