Members of the Ashanti regional co-ordinating team of the “Nana Akufo-Addo for president campaign” are convinced that delegates to the New Patriotic Party's (NPP's) December congress will vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to lead the party to victory in the next general election.

In a statement, the regional co-ordinator for the co-ordinating team, Mr Kwasi Akomea Kyeremateng, said the team was of the view that Nana Akufo-Addo was the right man to lead the party to battle the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the next elections.

The team further noted that Nana Addo was the only aspirant who had all the qualities of a great leader in one man.

Aside these qualities, the team expressed the belief that the MP for Abuakwa South also a former foreign Minister was God-sent and that he was capable of sustaining the great strides made by the Kufuor administration.

According to the team, since the president would be leaving office in January 2009, it behoves the delegates to give President Kufuor a parting gift for his good leadership by choosing a candidate who had the needed leadership qualities to unite the party and the nation for accelerated development.

“The President will have sound sleep and the party leadership will also not have to over work themselves to win the 2008 elections, since Nana Addo's election at the congress will make it easier to achieve victory at the polls next year,” the statement said.

The statement noted that if Nana Addo was elected on December 22, 2007, “the NDC will quickly go back to the drawing board to re-strategise on how to ensure the retention of the 94 seats it had in parliament rather than thinking of the presidency, since they would then know that the seat of government was a forgone conclusion for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP party”.

The statement appealed to all delegates to consider the enormous task ahead in ensuring that the party won the 2008 general election 'onetouch' and vote for Nana Akufo-Addo.
