There were a few goals credited to Ghanaian players plying their trade in Europe yet still a host of them contributed positively to their team's success over the weekend.

Matthew Amoah, Eric Sackey were on the scorecards as Stephen Appiah continued to play his way into the Fenerbahce team after spells on the sidelines due to injury.

Ghana defender, John Painstil played first his premiership game of the season for West Ham as he came on a late substitute for the Hammers on Sunday.

The 1-1 drawn game against Bolton was Painstil's first for the Hammers after 11 games when he was introduced into the game with five minutes of play remaining.

This was John Painstil's second consecutive game on the field for the Hammers after playing more minutes for the London club's win in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.

Sulley Muntari helped Portsmouth to a 4-2 win against Newcastle. Muntari who was a doubt for the game due to a suspected hamstring injury was taken off with four minutes to go.

In another English premiership game, Michael Essien helped Chelsea to yet another win as the Stamford Bridge side moved to third on the table with a 2-0 win over Wigan away.

Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah eased his way into the Fenerbahce team from injury after coming off the bench in their 2-1 home win over Besiktas.

Matthew Amoah's only goal for NAC Breda against FC Utrecht left Francis Dickoh's team still searching for their first home win of the season.

Eric Sackey's attempts at bringing back FC Olimpia into contention for a home win failed as they went down 1-4 to Dacia Chisinau in Moldova.

Bennard Yao Kumordzi had 82 minute of play below his belt for Panionios in their 1-1 draw with Ergotelis in the Greek Hellenic league.

In the French Ligue 1, Rennes featuring John Mensah went down 1-0 to Monaco while Dede Ayew came on in the 74th minute for Marseille as they drew goalless with Lorient.

Hans Adu Sarpei was introduced with nine minutes to go for Bayer Leverkusen in their 4-0 thrashing of Armenia Bielefeld in the German Bundesliga.

Still in Germany, Godfred Adoube also came on as a substitute for Karlsruhe in their 1-0 win over Duisburg.

Gyan King Osei was taken off in the 72nd minute as his side, Germinal Beerschot won 2-0 over Roeselare in Belgium's Jupiler League.

William Tiero was substituted in the second half for Acadamica in their 3-3 draw with Estrela Amadora in the Portuguese league.

Away in Romania, Hamza Mohammed played the entire game Ceahlaul against Universitatea Cluj. In Russia, Baffour Gyan's Saturn Moscow lost 3-1 to FK Amkar Perm.

Another Ghanaian player was on the losing side, this time in Scotland where Prince Buaben's Dundee Utd lost 2-0 to Aberdeen.
