A general goods trade fair and exhibition has opened in Aflao in the Volta Region to showcase products and services produced in the region.
The seven-day event is creating the platform for the exhibition of general goods, clothing, food stuffs, pottery, salt, kente and ceramics, all produced in the region.
Mr Frank Foley, the Chief Executive Officer of the Keta-based Riviera World Consult, organisers of the third Volta Fair, also called 'Vakpor', literally meaning, “come and see”, told the Daily Graphic that some vocational and technical institutions in the region, such as the Ohawu College of Agriculture and fashion departments of some vocational institutions, would be present at the fair to help educate the youth on the opportunities that existed for them.
“Together with a business forum to be held during the fair, the event, we believe, will help unravel some of the rich products and services in the region,” Mr Foley said.
The event has received good support from the private sector with tiGO as the headline sponsor and co-sponsors such as EPP Books and Anasset Company Ltd.
He said the business forum would focus on customer care and packaging, the two conditions which had partly robbed the region of selling its rich products and services.
Mr Foley said among the over 30 exhibitors were the Holy Trinity Health Farm at Sogakofe, 2nd Image Beauty Academy, both co-sponsors, and Bridal Products that were supposed to attract great attention to the fair, which is expected to draw a lot of visitors from neighbouring Lome, Togo.
