Madam Ibrahim Bintu Farizana, Wenchi District Chief Executive, has expressed concern over a protracted chieftaincy dispute at Wenchi and called for its quick resolution.

Addressing more than 400 Moslems celebrating the Eid Il Fitr festival at Wenchi at the weekend, she noted with regret that the dispute had created factions amongst the chiefs and people.

"The problem is affecting the development of this area as it has been difficult to organize the people to embark on any meaningful development programme", the DCE said.

Madam Farizana appealed to the royal families and kingmakers to allow peace and understanding to prevail among them so that it could trickle down to the people.

She advised the youth to be disciplined and to avoid negative activities that could disturb the peace in the area and not to get involved in chieftaincy disputes, land litigation and political conflicts.

The DCE advised Moslem parents to support and encourage the education of their children and to ensure that their girls enjoyed the same level of education as boys

The Moslems prayed for Allah's blessings for President Kufuor and his ministers so that they would continue to guide Ghana into a prosperous nation.

Nana Abrefa Nketia V11, Omanhene of Wenchi Traditional Area, called for tolerance and patience among Moslems and advised them not to engage in acts that would tarnish the image of Islam.

He appealed to the people to unite to advance the development process in the communities for improvement in their living conditions.
