United Party 2.0: Alan Kyeremateng’e Movement for Change transitions into full political party
Independent presidential candidate in the 2024 elections, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng, has officially converted his Movement for Change political group into a full-fledged political party.
The new party, named the United Party Plus (UP+), has been modeled after the political tradition of Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia’s United Party and received its provisional certificate on October 3, 2025.
Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Madina, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, has been appointed as the party’s interim national chairman.
Speaking at the launch of the party in Accra on Thursday, October 16, Alhaji Boniface said the party’s formation represents a new dawn in Ghana’s political landscape that seeks to revive the values of unity and development that once defined the Busia tradition.
“We present to you the United Party Plus, which we may also call UP 2.0. This party has come to resurrect the old bones of those who knew and believed in the original UP tradition,” he stated.
He explained that the new United Party would serve as a unifying platform for Ghanaians who feel left out by the dominance of the two major political parties.
“Every seed germinates only after it rots. We have come from different walks of life to rebuild a political force rooted in integrity, service, and patriotism,” Alhaji Boniface noted.
