K.T. Hammond slams NPP factions to stop innuendos and disunity ahead of flagbearer race

Former Adansi Asokwa MP, K.T. Hammond, has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against deepening divisions as the party prepares for its presidential primaries in January 2026.

Addressing supporters during former President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign tour in the Ashanti Region on September 10, Hammond lamented what he described as growing factionalism fuelled by wealth-driven politics and the sidelining of loyal party members who lack financial clout.

“Where were the rich people when we were struggling to get money to establish the NPP in the 1990s? Where were the rich folks before the NPP won its first election? Some of us who supported the party don't brag. We fought for this party with our blood and sweat,” he declared.

He urged party members and aspirants to put unity above personal ambitions, warning that arrogance and financial dominance could fracture the party at a crucial moment.

“This behaviour of the rich distancing themselves from the poor must cease. The innuendos must cease, and disunity must stop,” Hammond stressed.

He added that only discipline and togetherness would secure the NPP’s strength and competitiveness in the 2026 elections.
