The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) will host the West Africa Peace building Institute (WAPI) from 3-21 September 2007. The course is an initiative organized and managed annually by the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) and is being supported by the German Technical Cooperation-GTZ.
Through a series of intensive courses and training running concurrently each week, WAPI aims to increase the number of competent, active peace building practitioners in West Africa.
There will be about 47 international course participants including representatives of national governments and religious and civil society organisations concerned with peace and security in the West African sub-region. WAPI engages course participants in active debate with expert facilitators covering contemporary issues of peace, conflict, human security, equality and development.
This is the second event the KAIPTC is hosting on behalf of WANEP and would be addressed on the opening day by the Minister for Interior.
