31.08.2007 LISTEN
By Ghana Country Award Council

A multi purpose youth centre is to be constructed at Ahinsan in the Kumasi Metropolis to promote the development of sports among the Ghanaian youth. This was made known by the Minister of Manpower, Youth and Employment, Nana Akomea, at the opening of a two day meeting on a Draft National Youth Policy for Ghana at the Marina Hotel, Dodowa. The project is a joint initiative between the National Youth Council and the Chinese Government. The minister noted that the project when completed would be replicated in all the regional capitals. He complained about the deplorable state of the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex, formerly the Kaneshie Sports Complex and emphasized the need for it to be rehabilitated. Nana Akomea said the role of the private sector in the development of the youth cannot be overemphasized, he therefore called on the private sector to assist government to construct community youth centres across the country.
