Policy analyst and member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Joshua Zaato, says Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo will not succeed in her challenge against the ongoing process seeking her removal from office.
The political science lecturer at the University of Ghana stated that the process will ultimately lead to the removal of the Chief Justice, who was suspended pending the conclusion of a probe into petitions filed against her.
Speaking on Accra-based TV3’s KeyPoint show on Saturday, July 5, Dr. Zaato, however, commended Justice Torkonoo for her resilience in standing her ground.
“I’ve said here again and again and on so many platforms, I personally think she’s a goner. I personally think she’s not going to win this case. It’s done. She’s not going back to that office as Chief Justice.
“I’ve also said that I’m proud of her fight against the case. I’m happy that she’s fighting it. I’m happy the cases are going to the Supreme Court,” he said.
He added, “It will help the jurisprudence of these cases in the future. So again, I’m happy she’s fighting. I’m happy she’s not sitting down and just taking it—that she’s going all out.”
Meanwhile, the suspended Chief Justice has insisted that her rights are being abused and described all the allegations in the petitions against her as false or based on ignorance of her legal duties.

Akuffo Addo intentionally appointed Gertrude Sackey-Torkonor as Chief Justice because of the anger and psychological damaged to her by the killings of the 3 Justices and Military officer. That Military Officer (the spy who gave K. Nkrumah up) was the one funding CJ education, that was her uncle. Its like appointing Kwabena Agyapong as CJ. The hated of NDC party will be there forever. CJ can never and will never be fair in judgement to the NDC party . See all CJ panel votings on NDC cases which s...
