The Minister for the Interior and MP for Asawase, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has announced that the Ghana Police Service has put in place measures to provide adequate security for the country’s 24-hour economy policy.
According to him, the police administration has established a 24-Hour Economy Security Secretariat at the Police Headquarters to coordinate security arrangements for businesses and industries operating under the initiative.
Speaking at the National Police Training School passing-out ceremony on Friday, July 4, Muntaka Mubarak emphasised the crucial role of the Police Service in ensuring the smooth implementation of the policy.
“The Ghana Police Service has a cardinal role to play in providing the needed security to ensure that citizens and workers are well protected at all times to go about their legitimate economic and social duties without undue hindrance,” the minister stated.
“As part of proactive measures, the police administration has established a new unit at the Police Headquarters, known as the 24-Hour Economy Security Secretariat, to oversee the coordination of security arrangements,” he added.
The minister further urged both newly passed-out and in-service officers to demonstrate high standards of integrity and ensure fair and impartial enforcement of the law.
“The Ghana Police Service’s role in promoting peace, security, and social cohesion necessary for national development cannot be overemphasised. I urge you all on parade to exhibit a higher level of competence that complements the public’s trust and enforce the law firmly with utmost respect for citizens,” Muntaka Mubarak said.
