A fire broke out late Saturday night, June 21, at the official residence of Pearl Ankrah, the District Chief Executive for Afigya Kwabre South, damaging part of the property currently under renovation.
The incident occurred around 10:00 pm at the DCE’s bungalow located in Kodie.
According to Solomon Kwaku Adomako, spokesperson for the DCE, the affected section of the residence was not yet occupied by Madam Ankrah, as refurbishment works were still ongoing.
Emergency crews from the Mamponteng Division of the Ghana National Fire Service responded quickly and were able to contain the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to the rest of the building. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what sparked the blaze.
