Senior Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the most suitable person to lead Ghana, describing his vision for the country as unmatched.

According to Mr. Bentil, none of the plans proposed by other political figures come close to what the former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2024 flagbearer has already outlined.

“I am still waiting to hear plans for the nation which are better than what Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has already proposed. So far, none! #LetDMBLead,” he posted on social media on Friday, June 20.

The policy advisor’s comments come as the NPP sets January 31, 2026, for its next flagbearer election.

The date was agreed upon at a National Executive Council meeting held in Accra on Tuesday, June 17.

Dr. Bawumia, who led the party into the 2024 elections that ended in its worst electoral defeat, is yet to officially announce his bid to contest again.

However, after hosting a group of NPP Members of Parliament in his office on Thursday, he expressed gratitude for their support, noting it would influence his next political move.

The visit happened amid rising tension between the Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong camps, with both sides claiming majority backing from the party’s 88-member parliamentary caucus.

Kennedy Agyapong, the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has already declared his intention to contest.

Other potential aspirants include former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Abetifi MP Bryan Acheampong, and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.

Apart from you, the intelligent Ghanaians know that Bawumia plans are bad, the reason they voted the NPP to the opposition.

Is Mahama's government heading in the right direction?
