
Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister for Energy, is set to deliver a keynote address on the sub-theme "Powering Partnership: Leveraging Ghana-China Energy Cooperation for Sustainable Growth" at the highly anticipated Ghana-China Business Summit 2025.
The summit, scheduled from June 23 to June 28, will take place under the overarching theme, "Synergising Opportunities: Strengthening the Ghana-China Business Relationship and Fostering a 24-Hour Economy."
In his presentation, Mr. Jinapor will outline strategic priorities for deepening bilateral cooperation in Ghana’s energy sector, particularly in renewable energy development, energy infrastructure, and efficiency and conservation. He is expected to spotlight opportunities for Chinese investment and technology transfer to accelerate Ghana's clean energy transition.
The Minister will also explore collaborative frameworks for the development of critical energy infrastructure, and initiatives aimed at enhancing energy conservation and efficiency, with an emphasis on building a sustainable and inclusive energy future.
According to a statement from the Communication Department of the Ghana-China Business Summit Secretariat, Mr. Jinapor will further delve into investment prospects within Ghana's energy sector, identifying areas ripe for strategic partnerships with Chinese stakeholders.
The summit is being organised by the Government of Ghana through the Office of the Chief of Staff, in partnership with the Chinese Embassy in Ghana, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and China’s Foreign Affairs Ministries of Shandong and Beijing.
Key institutional partners include Perfect World Company Limited (PWCL), Sino Africa Group, Communication for Development and Advocacy Consult (CDA Consult), Lifeline Haven Company Limited, the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, Ghana Exim Bank, and Fidelity Bank.
President John Dramani Mahama will officially open the summit on Monday, June 23, to set the stage for the high-level bilateral deliberations.
Also billed to speak is Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, who will address the sub-theme: "Financing Growth: Strengthening Ghana-China Financial Partnership for Economic Development." Dr. Forson will discuss opportunities for Chinese investment in Ghana’s priority sectors, development financing collaboration, and innovative financing models such as public-private partnerships for infrastructure and strategic projects.
Summit Coordinator and PWCL CEO, Mr. Dennis Anderson, disclosed that more than 70 top executives from major Chinese State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and Ghanaian public and private sector leaders are expected to attend.
He described the summit as a “vital platform to unlock strategic investment opportunities,” particularly enabling China to leverage Ghana’s position as a gateway to the West African market, while reinforcing economic ties between the two nations.
Mr. Anderson added that the summit will also offer Ghanaian officials an opportunity to elaborate on the government’s "Big Push Agenda", aimed at stimulating growth through targeted investments aligned with the 24-hour economy vision.
Distinguished guests expected at the summit include Chinese Ambassador H.E. Tong Defa, Mr. Chen Xiaowei, Group Chairman of Sino-Africa Group, and Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, among other high-level dignitaries.
