The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a 24-hour weather alert forecasting widespread cloud cover, rain, and thunderstorms across several regions—particularly in southern Ghana.

According to GMet’s latest bulletin, much of the southern half of the country will remain under predominantly cloudy skies throughout the day. Early morning rains and thunderstorms are likely in key coastal and inland areas such as Accra, Cape Coast, and Takoradi. Fog and mist are also expected along the coast, forest zones, and hilly areas during the morning hours.

As the day advances, the cloudiness will alternate with brief periods of sunshine, leading to the buildup of storm clouds. These could result in intense rain and thunderstorms by afternoon into the evening, particularly along the coast, the forest belt, and the transitional zone.

Communities in Kasoa, Ho, Koforidua, and Kumasi are expected to experience late-day storms or showers. Coastal cities like Axim and Takoradi may experience prolonged rainfall, with precipitation chances hovering around 40%.

In contrast, the northern sector of the country is expected to remain mostly dry and sunny, with only isolated thunderstorms likely. Cities including Tamale, Bolgatanga, and Yendi will see partly cloudy skies with daytime temperatures ranging from 32°C to 35°C.

In Bono, Ahafo, and Bono East regions, towns such as Goaso, Sunyani, and Techiman could experience early morning mist or fog, clearing for sunshine later in the day with possible showers by nightfall.

Temperature readings across the country will range between 25°C and 33°C, with relatively cooler conditions expected in the southern parts due to persistent cloud cover and rainfall.

GMet has urged the public to remain alert, especially in areas prone to thunderstorms and reduced visibility from mist or fog. Travelers and outdoor workers are advised to take necessary precautions.
