Veteran media personality Kwaku Sintim-Misa, popularly known as KSM, has urged the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Attorney General to focus less on press conferences and more on recovering stolen state funds.
According to him, the looting of public resources by some government officials is staggering, and recovering the money should be prioritised over public commentary.
“So, to the OSP and the AG—let’s see something. We can’t allow the steam to be lost; put more fire under the pot,” KSM said on The KSM Show, aired on YouTube.
“Every time the OSP is organising press conferences, we are tired. Start moving. Unless he doesn’t have evidence. If he has evidence, chase them. Recover the money. Don’t show any mercy to any criminal. No more talk, start recovering stolen funds!” he stressed.
KSM added that if the state could retrieve the funds allegedly stolen, the government wouldn’t need to impose more taxes on already burdened citizens.
“The numbers that are being looted are staggering. It’s sad. If you think about the fact that we had to go to the IMF to beg, yet people were looting.
“If we can recover the loot, all these taxes would have been needless,” he said.
His comments come as the OSP and Attorney General pursue high-profile prosecutions under the “Operation Recover All Loots” initiative.
These include the alleged misappropriation of over GHC49.1 million by former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahen, and his wife, as well as the GHC548 million ghost names scandal at the National Service Secretariat.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has explained that the press conferences are to ensure accountability and transparency in the investigations.
