The Anti-Robbery Unit of the Kete-Krachi Divisional Police Command has arrested two men in a major drug bust after intercepting a vehicle loaded with suspected Indian hemp during a targeted intelligence-led operation in the Oti Region.
The suspects, 34-year-old John Dzeble and 24-year-old Adzobi Mesiwotso, were nabbed on June 15, 2025, while traveling in an Opel Astra with registration number GT 6430-13.
The vehicle was stopped and searched, leading to the discovery of 86 compressed parcels of substances believed to be Indian hemp.
The contraband was cleverly hidden in various compartments of the car — including the engine bay, doors, and trunk — in what police say was an attempt to evade detection.
Officers also found a portable digital scale and a roll of masking tape, suspected to have been used to weigh and package the drugs.
Both suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with further investigations.
The Oti Regional Police Command has praised the swift and effective work of the Anti-Robbery Unit, reaffirming its determination to clamp down on drug trafficking and organized crime across the region.
Authorities say further operations will continue in the coming weeks to dismantle drug distribution networks and bring perpetrators to justice.
