Renowned businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama has paid glowing tribute to Ghana’s legendary boxing champion, Azumah Nelson, with an extraordinary show of appreciation, a brand-new Toyota Fortuner and a generous cash donation.
The heartfelt gesture took place at Mahama’s residence, where boxing icon Anthony Joshua and Sharaf Mahama, CEO of Legacy Rise Sports, were also present to witness the occasion.
In a video that has since gone viral, a visibly emotional Azumah Nelson, fondly called “The Professor,” is seen standing beside his new car as Sharaf Mahama presents him with an envelope containing an undisclosed cash amount.
The gift is a recognition of Azumah Nelson’s unmatched legacy in boxing and his lasting impact on Ghanaian sports.
Ibrahim Mahama’s gesture is not only a celebration of a national treasure but also a powerful reminder of the importance of honouring our heroes while they are still alive.

We should stop giving cash of gift to people as a means of appreciation. This encourages bribery in our society.
