Director of Strategy, Research and Communication at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Samuel Appiah Darko, has questioned the basis for Ken Ofori-Atta’s failure to honour law enforcement invitations.
In a social media post on Monday, June 16, Sammy Darko suggested that the former Finance Minister has been travelling between countries abroad but has deliberately avoided returning to Ghana.
“Has Mr. Ofori-Atta not travelled in and out of the UK and USA between March and 31 May 2025? If he is able to fly internationally, what prevented him from appearing before law enforcement?” he asked.
The former Finance Minister is under investigation by the OSP for alleged corruption-related offences, including the controversial National Cathedral project and the SML revenue assurance deal.
According to Sammy Darko, Mr. Ofori-Atta initially claimed he was scheduled for surgery in March and could not attend to the summons.
But the OSP’s Director of Communications insists the procedure never occurred at the time claimed.
“He was given the opportunity to appear before law enforcement between February and 2 June 2025 but failed or refused to do so. Notably, he did not undergo any surgery on 21 or 22 March 2025, despite a statement from his medical coordinator—widely circulated online—suggesting otherwise,” he wrote.
“You may choose to distort facts or shift the goalposts, but the truth remains: as of today, Mr. Ofori-Atta has not produced any certified medical report or flight risk assessment from his personal or attending physician or hospital indicating that he is incapacitated or unable to travel,” he added.
His remarks follow a statement by Professor Mrs. Angela Ofori-Atta, wife of the former Minister, confirming that her husband had undergone successful prostate cancer surgery.
She noted that the robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy was conducted at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on Friday, June 13, and that he is currently receiving postoperative care.

This guy is dim witted to say the least. My understanding is that Ofori-Atta sought and was granted permission to travel. That he has health challenges that are being attended to, can happen to anybody. Because of stomach politics and sycophancy, every idiot is having a field day with Ofori-Atta, when to date he has not being charged with any crime (he is under investigation though). I wish Ghanaian apparatchiks will develop a sense of professionalism and respect towards the other, rather...
