Director of Strategy, Research and Communication at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Samuel Appiah Darko, says former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has yet to produce any certified medical report indicating he is unable to travel.

According to him, despite being under investigation for alleged corruption-related offences—such as the National Cathedral project and the SML deal—Mr. Ofori-Atta has failed to justify his absence before the OSP.

In a social media post on Monday, June 16, Sammy Darko said the former minister initially claimed he was scheduled for surgery in March, but that procedure never took place.

“You may choose to distort facts or shift the goalposts, but the truth remains: as of today, Mr. Ofori-Atta has not produced any certified medical report or flight risk assessment from his personal or attending physician or hospital indicating that he is incapacitated or unable to travel,” he wrote.

“He was given the opportunity to appear before law enforcement between February and 2 June 2025 but failed or refused to do so. Notably, he did not undergo any surgery on 21 or 22 March 2025, despite a statement from his medical coordinator—widely circulated online—suggesting otherwise,” he added.

Sammy Darko also questioned the basis for Mr. Ofori-Atta’s failure to respond to OSP summons if he could travel internationally.

“Has Mr. Ofori-Atta not travelled in and out of the UK and USA between March and 31 May 2025? If he is able to fly internationally, what prevented him from appearing before law enforcement?” he asked.

His comments come after Professor Mrs. Angela Ofori-Atta, wife of the former Finance Minister, announced that her husband had undergone successful prostate cancer surgery.

In a statement issued on Monday, June 16, she said the robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy was conducted at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on Friday, June 13, and that he is now undergoing postoperative care.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Special Prosecutor has issued an Interpol red notice for Mr. Ofori-Atta, who is currently in the United States receiving treatment.

If anyone had told Ofori-Atta that power would change in Ghana, beware of the corruption, he wouldn't have believed it because, together with Akufo-Addo, they created a Mafioso regime with the highest number of judges led by the corrupt Gertrude Torkornoo at the Supreme Court that no one can penetrate. Imagine the corruption that took place under Gertrude Torkornoo, and the most annoying part is that she wants to serve in Mahama's government. For what? I don't understand. If the NPP is the o...
